I’m starting to question my Struts decision. I’d always thought that it might be too big for our needs, but I figured we could grow into it. But now it’s looking like it might be serious overkill.
I’m looking at Spring, which is really nice and lightweight. But I don’t know if I’m just having buyer’s remorse (or rather, installer’s remorse since Struts is free), or if it’s a really valid concern.
Such are the problems of working by yourself on a project.

So I’ve finally found a project that will let me sharpen up my Java skills. It’s nothing too big, just a simple web application. And with all this talk about java this and frameworks that, Java seemed the natural choice. But there are so many different frameworks and application servers to choose from, so I took a trip down to the local Barnes and Noble to do some research.
I settled on Struts, picked up a book, and headed on back to the truck. That was about the time I realized that I didn’t have my keys. When I got to the truck, I realizee that it was still on. With the doors locked. And me on the outside.
I called up some friends, hoping against hope that someone had a Slim-Jim or something to pop the door open. Thankfully, my old roommate Jason had my spare truck key at his house, so he rushed over. Jimmy and Will came by for moral support while we waited for Jason, who arrived forthwith and opened the door.
But strike one against Java and Struts.

I’ve decided to move mando.org from Blosxom over to Word Press. Blosxom’s nice, but I’ve realized that I don’t need or want the level of control that it provides.
All I want is a text box
. And working comments. And working trackbacks.

So some friends came over last Friday night, and we were sitting around the dinner table when my wife says “Hey, did you guys hear about the Mexican UFOs?”.
One of us says “What Mexican UFOs?”.
So she tells the story of how Mexican Air Force pilots saw the UFOs flying over Mexico last week, to which our friend replies “Wait a minute, wait a minute. Mexico has an AIR FORCE?!”.
Thank you, thank you.

I often wonder what the true worth of the Internet is. I tend to use it primarily as a type of data repository, where the knowledge of mankind is seemingly at my fingertips. But today, I was pleasantly surprised by it’s communicative powers.
I got an email from an old high school classmate, who found some info on Classmates.com. He then found this web page, and dropped me an email. This is someone that I haven’t talked to in nearly 10 years, and here we are catching our lives up.
It’s truly wonderous.
